Today's Reading
Ps. 68:2-3, 4-5, 6-7

We are now beginning the last week of Easter time and the Church’s liturgy gives us three consecutive responsorial psalms from Psalm 68 as well as three identical refrains. It’s as if the Church wants us to be quite clear about what is expected of us and how we are to respond to God’s achievements.

We are celebrating victory--God’s victory in Christ over the forces of sin and death. God’s enemies are scattered, driven away like smoke. This invites God’s people to rejoice and be glad in the Lord and to glorify His name. Christ’s victory invites God’s people to chant praise to the Lord.

The resurrection of the Lord calls all the kingdoms of the earth and their people to sing to God.
