Exploring Our Faith
Father Greg visits with Franciscan Father Dominic Monti. He currently serves in leadership for the Franciscan Province of the Holy Name. He also is a widely respected Franciscan historian. He holds a Ph.D. with a concentration in the history of Christianity from the University of Chicago’s Divinity School. Father Dominic is author of Francis and His Brothers: A Popular History of the Franciscan Friars (SAMP 2009), written in celebration of the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Franciscan Order. In connection with this fall’s visit of the Holy Father and other world religious leaders to the city of Assisi, Father Dominic talked about the significance of this meeting in the light of the relationship between St. Francis of Assisi and the popes during his lifetime.
