Today's Reading
Ps. 33: 4-5, 6-7, 12-13, 20, 22

The Easter Vigil presents us with a story, the story of God’s love for His human creatures, the story of their salvation.

Through the readings from the Old and New Testaments we hear the narrative of God’s initiative, how He loved His human creatures from the beginning, rescued them from their sinfulness, liberated them from slavery, brought them to the land He had promised, and drew them into intimacy with Himself.

Each of the readings gives us a piece of the story. And each of the readings calls for a response. Our relationship with God is not an affair of mere receptivity or passive acceptance. We are expected to answer God’s love with our own. Responding to God’s word is part of our faith.
