Today's Reading
Ps. 117:1, 2

Today’s refrain is from Mark’s gospel and gives us Jesus’ final command to His apostles, the command to continue His mission, the command to preach the gospel to all creatures. The responsorial psalm itself, Psalm 117, is the shortest psalm and offers a similar command: All creatures, praise the Lord.

All the nations, all the peoples are to join in the enterprise of praise and faithfulness that constitutes the purpose of God’s redeemed creation. Everybody is called to announce the loving kindness of the creator. We all share the mission of announcing to everybody the kindness and faithfulness of God.

God doesn’t waste words. Today He says to us, “Tell everybody how much I love them. Let them know how important they are to me.”
