Today's Reading
Ps. 2:6-7, 8-9, 10-11

Today we hear Psalm 2. This psalm presents us with the heavenly Father addressing His eternal Son, speaking of the future messianic kingdom and the eternal reign of the Messiah.

The Father will set up the Son as king on the Father’s holy mountain. He will bestow on the Son an inheritance that will extend forever and to the ends of the earth. The Son, the Messiah will overcome God’s enemies and rule them with a rod of iron.

The psalm calls on God’s enemies to stand before the Son in fear but also to rejoice in His presence.

The Son, the Messiah is our Lord Jesus Christ, who is our risen Savior. It is He whom we reverence. It is He whom we adore.
