Proclaiming the psalms is part of our purpose in life. It’s what we’re for.

Today's Reading
Ps. 122:1-2, 3-4, 4-5

“Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord,” says Psalm 122, the responsorial psalm for today. This is a joyful song being sung by the psalmist upon arriving at the Holy City.

But it’s more than a geographic event that is being celebrated. It’s an encounter. Here people meet the Lord. Here they come to know Him.

The psalms provide a context for us all to meet God. They enable us to be with God, to be at home with God. In fact, we might say that proclaiming the psalms is part of our purpose in life. It’s what we’re for.

This psalm invites us to ask how much of ourselves we spend rejoicing as we journey toward the house of the Lord.
