Today's Reading
Ps. 98:1, 2-3, 3-4

Today’s psalm, Psalm 98, is a song of salvation. In it we offer praise to God for the power He has exercised in the life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, power that has brought us into a state of definitive value.

In many parts of the Church the Ascension of the Lord is celebrated on this day. On the feast of the Ascension the Church recalls the ongoing presence of the Lord among His people, that He is victorious over all the powers of sin and will be active in our midst forever.

The power of the Lord is universal. He has revealed His salvation to the nations, to all the nations, forever. Our response to His ongoing power must be ongoing gratitude.
